About the Artist

Pierre-Richard Raphaël is a Haitian visual artist whose world is built from illustration, photography and graphic design. His work carries the heartbeat of Haiti. Folklore, myth, and everyday life all find their way into his imagination, blending into visuals that feel both tender and powerful. He grew up surrounded by stories and symbols that many people outside Haiti rarely see, and over time he turned those influences into the foundation of his creative voice.

After completing his studies at the Ecole Nationale des Arts in Port au Prince, he stepped into the unpredictable but fulfilling life of a freelance artist. That freedom has allowed him to explore every corner of his heritage with intention. Through character design, narrative scenes, portraits, and symbolic compositions, he creates images that speak for cultures, memories and traditions that deserve to be preserved.

He is now pursuing Media Arts and Graphic Design studies at Southern New Hampshire University in the US which is giving him new tools to refine his visual language and strengthen the technical side of his craft. This new chapter is helping him merge his studio arts knowledge with the cultural depth he already carries, allowing his work to grow more confident, more intentional and more connected to the stories he hopes to share with a wider audience.

His art is not just a craft. It is a form of storytelling that honors where he comes from. He uses color, line and texture to breathe new life into old tales, to reimagine folklore in a contemporary light, and to capture the beauty and complexity of Haitian identity. With every piece he creates, he aims to celebrate his culture, uplift his community and share the magic of Haiti with the world.
